Biscuits are great fun to make and decorate all year round, these star shaped ones would make great gifts for your friends or neighbours, or would be perfect to take to a Christmas party! If you have children they’d also be great to make to leave out for Father Christmas on Christmas eve.
- 125g unsalted butter
- 75g caster sugar
- 50g light brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1tsp vanilla extract
- 250g plain flour
- 1tsp ginger
- 1tsp cinnamon
- a dash nutmeg
Preheat the oven to 190C/170 fan/gas 5 and line two baking trays.
Cream together the butter and sugar.
Gradually beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
Stir in the flour and spices until it forms a dough.
Turn out, kneed until it forms a ball, wrap in cling film and refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
Lightly flour a surface and roll the dough out to roughly half a centimetre thick.
Cut out your biscuits and bake for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
Leave to cool and decorate as you like.
